Further details about the target application code, the numerical methods, and the specific parallelization strategies used are provided in this topic. In addition, a brief discussion about how the investigators use OpenMP in their code provides greater insight into the architecture of complex scientific codes such as the one discussed here.

Objectives

After you complete this topic, you should be able to:

  • Describe in greater detail the application context and numerical methods used
  • Discuss how the OpenMP environment is used in the target application
Prerequisites

There are no specific prerequisites for learning the information contained in this topic. If one is interested in applying these analyses to one's own application code, then access to Intel compilers and the Intel performance analysis tools (VTune, Advisor, Parallel Studio) is required.
