About Data Transfers

When choosing a utility to use for performing a data transfer you must consider factors like the size of your data and your requirements and priorities for the operation. Transferring large data will inherently take longer, but it also increases the chance that you will encounter an error or interruption. So, each transfer's requirements and priorities may be different due to the data size.

After you complete this segment, you should be able to:

  • Name common transfer requirements and priorities that might affect your choice of transfer tool
  • Identify your requirements and priorities for a given data transfer
  • Rule some transfer tools in or out of consideration for a particular type of transfer
