Applications that rely on the PHDF5 and PnetCDF libraries may find themselves limited to only certain systems for which the library developers have managed to create the required implementations. The Adaptable IO System (ADIOS) is a collaborative effort to provide an easy-to-use I/O abstraction framework for portable and scalable I/O. This topic provides an overview of ADIOS.

Objectives

After you complete this topic, you should be able to:

  • Explain the rationale for the ADIOS library
  • Describe basic ADIOS operation
Prerequisites

To complete this topic, you will need basic familiarity with parallel I/O concepts.
