The Exosphere is described in considerable detail in the Introduction to Jetstream2 topic, so we will not go into it in depth here. For many users, it is the easiest and most convenient way to work with Jetstream2. The benefits of using Exosphere include:

  • It is easy to learn and use and leads you through some of the more involved procedures, such as creating an instance.
  • Technical concerns such as creating security groups, private networks and key pairs are taken care of behind the scenes.
  • It is accessible through a web browser on any computer, anywhere in the world.

If you determine that you do not need any functionality beyond what is available in Exosphere, you can choose it as the interface you use for most of your Jetstream2 work. Then, if a need arises for you to access Jetstream2 from a terminal or script some of the actions you perform through Exosphere, you can use the openstack-client CLI to do so.
