Horizon is the name of the web-based graphical user interface (GUI) for the OpenStack cloud platform. You can choose to use this web interface instead of the standard Exosphere interface if you would like to access more of the functionality offered by OpenStack. That functionality includes greater control over security groups, private networks, key pairs and image creation. The price for having such access is the increased responsibility of having to manage all of those things for yourself rather than letting Exosphere take care of them for you.

The online documentation for Horizon is highly recommended as a reference. The following pages in this section will introduce the Horizon environment and give high level overviews of some common workflows in Horizon. The Jetstream2 team also provides some Horizon documentation that is specific to Jetstream2
