The OpenStack command line interface (CLI) is a non-graphical means of working with Jetstream2 entities. Entities that were created through the Horizon user interface can be controlled through the OpenStack CLI and vice versa. This topic describes installing, configuring and using the OpenStack CLI for use with Jetstream2.

Objectives

After you complete this segment, you should be able to:

  • Install the OpenStack CLI on a computer.
  • Configure an openrc.sh file for use with a Jetstream2 project.
  • Understand the basic structure of OpenStack CLI commands.
  • Be able to use the CLI to perform some or all of the typical OpenStack workflows (create a security group, create a key pair, find an image, create an instance, assign a floating IP address, and manage an instance).
Prerequisites
  • Complete the Introduction to Jetstream2 tutorial.
  • A familiarity with the Bash shell, environment variables and some Linux commands.
