The OpenStack CLI provides the greatest access and control of cloud entities, short of writing software applications that call the OpenStack APIs directly. The CLI defines commands that can be invoked from terminals and within scripts. In order to use the CLI with Jetstream2, you must take these steps, which are described in the following pages:

Prepare a Computer
The computer that will be used to execute CLI commands must have a suitable Python environment and the ability to run Bash scripts.
Install the openstack-client
The OpenStack client must be installed on the computer where you will use it.
Configure an openrc.sh File
An openrc.sh file must be configured for the Jetstream2 project and user account you will be using with the CLI.

Once all of the preparation is complete, some information is given for using the OpenStack CLI and performing OpenStack CLI workflows. The Jetstream2 documentation provides additional information about using the OpenStack CLI with Jetstream2.
