You can log in to your Jetstream2 instance only when it is in the Ready
state.
If your instance is in the Shelved
state,
you can unshelve it in order to log in.
The pages in this topic discuss your options for accessing an instance
through a text-based shell
and through a graphical web desktop
.
All instances support shell access, but only those created with their web desktop enabled
support graphical access.
The easiest way to access your instance is using the web-based shell and desktop connections that are built right into Jetstream2's Exosphere web interface. These access methods are described in the coming pages, as is shell access from a text-based terminal or shell on your computer. Techniques for copying your data onto an instance are also described.

- Log on to an instance using a terminal-based shell
- Copy your data on to an instance using several options
Prerequisites
- Complete the Jetstream2 Overview topic in this roadmap.
- Complete the Creating an Instance topic in this roadmap.
