The Reboot action causes the instance to be shut down and restarted. It can be used when there appears to be a problem with the instance or after system updates have been applied and you are directed to reboot. Obviously, any unsaved work and running programs will be lost, so save your work before rebooting. All open shell and desktop connections to the instance will be lost.

During rebooting the instance status is displayed as Rebooting and the details page does not display the Resource Usage panel. When the reboot is finished the state returns to Ready and the Resource Usage panel is displayed again.
